Day 1:    Arrival in Faenza

Faenza is a charming town in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, renowned for its rich history and artistic heritage. Famous for its exquisite ceramics, known as "faience," Faenza boasts the International Museum of Ceramics, showcasing masterpieces from various periods and cultures. Explore the stunning Cathedral and its impressive Renaissance architecture. The Civic Art Gallery houses a notable collection of Renaissance and Baroque art. Taste the typical hearty dishes of the local cuisine preparing for tomorrow first ride into the Vena del Gesso Romagnola Regional Park.

Day 2:    Faenza loop ride via Brisighella

Embark on your holiday with a loop ride from Faenza via Brisighella offering an enchanting journey through the heart of Emilia-Romagna's scenic countryside. Starting in Faenza, cyclists head southwest toward Brisighella, a picturesque medieval village nestled in the foothills of the Apennines. The route winds through rolling vineyards and olive groves, providing stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape. Upon arriving in Brisighella, riders can explore the village's charming streets, visit the iconic Rocca Manfrediana fortress, and enjoy panoramic views from the Torre dell'Orologio (Clock Tower). Return to Faenza through wuite country roads of the Vena del Gesso Romagnola Regional Park.

Day 3:    Ride from Faenza to Bagnacavallo

Today’s ride offers a pleasant landscapes of the Emilia-Romagna region. Starting in Faenza, traversing approximately 25 kilometers of picturesque countryside. The route passes through fertile plains, dotted with vineyards, orchards, and quaint villages, providing a scenic and relaxing ride. Upon reaching Bagnacavallo, you can explore its well-preserved medieval center, featuring the beautiful Piazza della Libertà and the historic Podestà Palace. The town is also known for its rich culinary traditions, so sampling local delicacies is a must.

Day 4:    Ride Bagnacavallo to Comacchio

Emilia-Romagna, covering a distance of about 50 kilometers. Starting in Bagnacavallo, head northeast, enjoying the tranquil rural scenery characterized by fertile fields, canals, and small villages. The route is relatively flat, making it suitable for everyone.
As you approach Comacchio, the landscape transitions to the wetlands and lagoons of the Po Delta. Known as "Little Venice," Comacchio is famous for its network of canals, historic Trepponti bridge, and charming pastel-colored houses. Exploring the town, riders can visit the Manifattura dei Marinati, where eels are traditionally marinated, and enjoy fresh seafood at local eateries. This ride offers a blend of agricultural beauty, rich history, and unique coastal landscapes, making it a memorable cycling experience.

Day 5:    Comacchio loop ride via Pomposa Abbey

The loop ride from Comacchio via Pomposa Abbey offers a fascinating journey through the scenic and historical landscapes of the Po Delta. Starting in the picturesque town of Comacchio, head north toward the renowned Pomposa Abbey. The route meanders through serene wetlands, past fertile fields, and along quiet country roads, providing a tranquil and visually rewarding experience. Upon reaching Pomposa Abbey, riders can explore this magnificent 9th-century Benedictine monastery, famous for its stunning Romanesque architecture and beautifully preserved frescoes. After soaking in the historical ambiance, the ride continues back to Comacchio, possibly taking a slightly different route to shorten the ride.

Day 6:    Ride from Comacchio to Ravenna

Today you head south through the scenic wetlands of the Po Delta culminating in the city’s historical and cultural treasures. Upon arrival in Ravenna, cyclists can explore its renowned UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the stunning mosaics of San Vitale, Galla Placidia, and the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo-.

Challenge: 50 km; Ascent: 40 m; Descent: 50 m

Optional extra Day: Ride from Ravenna to Cervia

For enthusiasts seeking more cycling, an additional night in Ravenna can be arranged.
Departing from the Byzantine town head southeast towards the Adriatic Sea through the Pineta di Classe, a beautiful coastal pine forest, providing a shaded and refreshing ride. The route follows the coastline, passing through charming seaside resorts and natural reserves, offering opportunities for breaks and enjoying the coastal scenery. Upon reaching Cervia, you can explore this lovely town known for its historic salt pans, the picturesque canal harbour, and vibrant beaches. 

You can decide to take the train back to Ravenna or retrace the same route back.

Day 7:    Arrivederci Emilia Romagna!
